Touch base with the experts in Legacy Modernization

Software companies and end users developed on the IBM AS/400 platform because it offered a number of advantages: database capabilities at the machine level, stability, and wide acceptance within the business community. As stable as the AS/400 is, the platform has several drawbacks. It is a text-based system in a browser world. The RPG programming language, while enhanced with ILE, does not offer many of the streamlined processes that a true 4GL does. IBM's answer, WebSphere, has been met with resistance because of price, ease of use and hardware requirements. Moreover, many hardware manufacturers now offer systems that offer the same security and reliability using a Windows, Unix or Linux operating system.

In today's typical IT environment, companies are looking for a migration path to Windows, Unix or Linux. Typical objectives for developers and end users may be one or more of the following goals: platform consolidation, browser deployment, integration and expanded data tools.
