Infinite DataLink adds validated DB2/400 to MySQL migrations

April 14, 2026 — Infinite Corporation

Infinite Corporation today announced new validated migration capabilities in Infinite DataLink, its tool for moving IBM i (DB2 for i / DB2/400) data to MySQL. The release adds end-to-end validation, automatic character-set conversion, and full preservation of referential integrity, giving organizations a production-grade path from DB2/400 to MySQL on AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud.

Infinite DataLink maps DB2 for i data types to their exact MySQL equivalents — packed and zoned decimals to DECIMAL with identical precision and scale, never to floating-point — so financial values migrate without rounding error. Physical files become tables, logical files become views and secondary indexes, and primary and foreign keys are recreated on InnoDB so the database itself continues to enforce the relationships applications assume.

The release also automates the EBCDIC-to-Unicode conversion that trips up hand-rolled scripts, performing a CCSID-aware translation to UTF-8 that preserves accented and multi-byte characters through a full round trip. Every migration is checked table by table with row counts and column checksums, producing an exceptions report that serves as audit evidence of a faithful migration.

"Data migration is where IBM i modernization projects quietly fail," said Dr. Bruce Acacio of Infinite Corporation. "Getting the types, the encoding, and the integrity exactly right — and proving it — is the difference between a clean cutover and a year of reconciliation." Infinite DataLink can be used on its own or paired with an Infinite i platform migration to move applications and data together.
